Donations

We are trying to contact all former students and staff of Waterloo Collegiate Institute to enlist your support for WCI's 50th Homecoming Celebrations to be held June 4-6, 2010. This date is approaching very quickly and much needs to be done. There has been a number of planning meetings already by some very excited alumni of WCI.

We really would like to see you attend the 50th - that is the most important message that we have. In addition to attending, please consider supporting the 50th Homecoming in the following ways:

  • Homecoming Support Gifts in Kind: The 50th Homecoming is entirely self-funded. The Registration Fee will defray much of the cost but there will need to be significant expenditures for printing, signage, tent rental, security services and similar items/services. If you or your company is in a position to contribute in any of these areas, please go to the Contact Us tab on this website and send a message to either of the Co-Chairs, Leslie Straus or Nelson Cuthbert. We thank you in advance.
  • Alumni Challenge Gift - Refurbish the Aud!: We hope to raise enough funds to provide a significant legacy gift to the school in the form of a complete refurbishment of the auditorium. The auditorium today is as it was in 1960, while the school population has doubled. It is well-used by the school and the community. Wouldn't it be great to make it our goal to underwrite a refurbished auditorium as an alumni gift? We are aiming for $ 500,000 (new seats, new lighting, new sound system, new curtains, etc.) We believe that WCI ALUMNI are able to do it!

A charitable foundation, the Waterloo Education Foundation (WEFI), has been set up by the Waterloo Region District School Board for several years now. Nelson Cuthbert, our former Principal, has established a WCI 50th Homecoming Account within WEFI and is in place to receive tax-deductible contributions towards either or both of the above gifts. If you are able, you may donate as follows:

  • Kindly send a cheque to WCI via regular postal services (c/o Craig Nickel, WCI Director of Student Activities, 300 Hazel Street, Waterloo, ON, N2L 3P2)

A tax receipt will be sent to you with our sincere thanks.

Sincerely yours from your Fundraising Co-Chairs,

John Shaw, Teacher       Brian Cressman, Student Activity Director (retired)
